We practice traditional Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate. The Goju-Ryu ( the hard-soft style ) was created from life-long work of two great Okinawan Karate teachers, Kanryo Higaonna (1853-1917) and his student Chojun Miyagi (1888-1953). Master Miyagi choosed the name Goju Ryu, inspired by the "Eight precepts" of Kempo, written in Bubishi.
Eight poems :
The human mind is one with heaven
and earth.
Our blood circulation parallels the solar and lunar cycles of each day.
Inhaling represents softness while exhaling characterizes hardness.
Adapt to changing conditions.
Response must result without conscious thought.
Distancing and posture dictates the outcome of the meeting.
See what is unseeable.
Expect what is unexpected.

The precepts of Okinawan Goju-Ryu by Master Chojun Miyagi
It should be known that secret principals of Goju Ryu exist in the kata.
Goju Ryu Karate-do is a manifestation within one's own self of the harmonious accord of the universe.
The way of Goju Ryu Karate-do is to seek the way of virtue.
